The university

Although its originality, I think that the university building is one of Châteauroux's ugliest. You should note that the University Technical Institute has its own modern buildings ...

The website of the municipality publishes that the university has been housed in the Citizen's house since 1988. The building cornerstone was set on 06/07/1936 by Member-Mayor Louis Deschizeaux (from a left wing party). The building, which was dedicated to health, education and entertainment policies, was designed by Architect Jacques Barge. On the first floor were fixed some doors from René Lalique, in honors of the 1925 international exhibition about decoration and industry.

NB: The yellow van in front of the gates is the postman's.

Meg, I do not think I would be able to shoot the Lalique door, as I do not live in Châteauroux anymore, unless anyone from Châteauroux reads this message.

Kaa, I think (but I was unable to check the information) that this building is one of the last Staline-type one in France. Because of this and its atypical architecture, it may have been added to the French Historical Monunement directory.
